"Memories"

I have most recently been on a journey in which the Lord has been bringing to my mind god memories. Some are from my childhood and some more recent past experiences. I believe God used this year's milestone birthday to jump-start some awesome memories.

I can't imagine how I arrived at this time in my life or what God's purpose is in bringing me to this place. I do know, however, without a shadow of doubt, my Creator has a reason for my life. He has things for me to do. I am here because there are those who need me. The memories I've been experiencing haven't been negative, which I'm certain we all have, but they've been good and purposeful...happy memories. There isn't room enough to print them all but here are a few beginning with one major memory from my childhood.

I remember sunny, warm summer Sunday's and family picnics, packing lunches and swim suits and getting on a trolley called the "Laurel Line" for a wonderful ride to nearby Rocky Glenn amusement park. It had a large lake, rides and pavilions sprinkled with picnic tables. I clearly remember the food, especially great sandwiches and plums. Vivid in my mind are the tastes and the smells of the food, the water and wooden benches. I'm also reminded of the ever so enjoyable carnival rides, the white horse on the merry-go-round, the carousel music and going round and round.

I also remember warm summer evenings where I lived on Third Avenue playing "red rover" and "hide and seek" with the neighborhood kids. I'm fondly reminded of playing paper dolls with my younger sister and the shoe boxes that contained the dolls and their paper clothes, sort ed out and stored in. Times are so very different now. Nothing can replace that enjoyment and the feeling of safety I felt in that lovely quiet neighborhood.

Now, jumping ahead to the recent past. The year was 1995, it was July. As pastors we had weekly kinship meetings (that's what it was called then.) It was an evening when the power of the Holy Spirit was so thick many of us that attended were in tears, others were resting on the floor in His presence. I was the one "out like a light" basking in that divinely inspired flow. When resting in Him I experienced and awesome vision. I was walking down a road that was full of potholes. There were two angels of light, one to my left and one to my right; they were lifting me over the pot holes and as I gazed upon the wonderful figure of light at the end of the road, I knew it was Jesus. I was carried to the end of the road. I turned to my right and continued walking down a smooth path that had a variety of colored flowers on each side. I had a sprinkling or watering can in my hand and I proceeded to water the flowers. I then turned to my right again and began walking over a seemingly endless beautiful grassy field until I came to a large white house. I walked up the steps to the front door and as I opened the door and entered I was suddenly in a jet plane. During the months of July and August of that year, I meditated on that vision wondering what it all meant.

On September 1st, 1995, Labor Day, my husband was at work doing what he always did on the late summer holiday, co-hosting the Jerry Lewis children's MDA telethon. My son Kristopher and I decided to visit him on television set. I seemed tired but went ahead to the nearby town where it was being telecast. We arrived at the telethon and I collapsed, going into congestive heart failure. That was the beginning of a healing trek that at times seemed insurmountable. The event began a journey of many months with stays at six hospitals in which I received a mechanical heart valve and a pacemaker. During those trying days I had little fight left inside. But I always remembered the experience of a few months earlier when the angels came and carried me over the potholes. It was fuel enough for me to know that God was with me. Then, during one of the hospital stays, I was visited by an angel. I didn't see the angel but I knew, that I knew, it was there, felt it, and saw the indenture in the pillow where it lay beside me. That was September 1995. I was a deaths door then but it's now 2012 and I've spent all these subsequent years doing God's work.

It has been quite a journey both spiritual and natural. It isn't over yet as I continue doing the work He has called me to and commissioned me to do.

Sexual Dreams...Not What They Seem To Be

Sexual dreams can be very explicit and quite embarrassing. For this reason many will keep them a secret because they are very personal and people don't relish sharing very private issues with others. If we believe that God is in control and that He is communicating in this manner it is important to trust that there is a reason and a purpose in the dream that go beyond the implication, the action, or issues the dream is highlighting. Let’s open the doors and windows and allow light to be shed on this very touchy subject.

We completely understand the personal nature of this kind of dream but let’s remember the number one lesson in learning about dream interpretation.... dreams are symbolic. Take a step back and remember that sexual acts in dreams most likely mean something other than what they actually are. They can be dealing with the dreamers deep feelings or perhaps God is calling attention to an area of the dreamer’s life that needs healing. The Creators purpose in giving us any kind of a dream is to draw us closer to Him bring healing and help us to become what He wants us to become. Love is the foundation, the root of our relationship with God. He knows what He is doing and really and truly does not want to freak us out.

There was a very wise man named Solomon who wrote a book, inspired by the Creator that has a lot of intimacy and sexual imagery in it. That book is called Song of Solomon. It is in the bible. I suggest that you take the time to read it. It may help you go beyond the aversion or shyness you feel about this type of dream.

Sometimes this type of dreams calls attention to the need for healing that may concern perversion or abuse the dreamer may had experienced in the past even as far back as childhood. Another purpose for a dream like this could very well be calling the dreamers attention to the need to deal with the problem in the natural, forgiveness could be necessary and important in order for them to move forward spiritually and emotionally.

It is so very important to consider the whole context of any dream especially when there is a sexual act involved. It could be addressing relationship or intimacy issues that don't actually have anything to do with the sexual act. Some questions to ask yourself are: The ever so significant: WHO....is it your husband, is it your boyfriend or is it someone from the past. Is the person an authority figure in your life or is it an actual person or could it be someone whose name, social standing or reputation is noteworthy in life. There are many questions to be answered in order to receive the message that will fulfill the purpose of the dream. Could the dream be about relational issues or perhaps desire for pleasure?

I am going to give you a few examples in the hope that they will help you to put your thinking caps on. Another reminder... God loves you the messages of the night always encompass that love. Any kind of sensual act with someone close to you such as a husband or wife could be symbolic of commitment or perhaps vulnerability. In some cases it may represent intimacy or relationship with the Lord. God will sometimes give us dreams that are shocking, such as same sex encounters. Although this type of dream causes a person to feel awkward following the dream during the dream they may actually feel good, the purpose of the dream shows there is something in the dreamer’s life that is it clearly ineffective or unproductive. The issue of rape can very literally be calling attention to an actual sexual assault or perversion of some type that occurred in the person’s life however, it may be prompting or activating personal issues that are unresolved.

This is such a sensitive subject I am sensing very strongly that this is enough for now. I truly believe this is a subject that is worthy of personal mentoring. I would like to end with an example of a dream that caused much concern and worry for a dreamer that was looking at their dream literally instead of metaphorically.

I dreamed that a child that was very close to me was being raped and beat up. It was so graphic; I saw the bruises and black and blue marks very clearly. Since I knew the child and the father I was concerned that the father was abusing their little girl. I of course began to pray for the child’s protection and for the father to stop what he was doing. Sometime later I had another dream with the child in it but about something happening in my church. I had a few more dreams of this sort. After mush prayer God revealed to me that the little girl in my dreams represented the church I was attending. With f more prayer for my church and a problem that developed in the group with some people being asked to leave I was told by God that it was the church that needs my prayer for protection because it was being taken advantage of by some of its members. Wow! How enlightening. What a great learning experience concerning the need for prayer.

The Enigma Factor

In the book of Job, 33:14-16 we read “For God does speak, now one way, now another though man may not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night when deep sleep falls on men as the slumber in their beds, he may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings.”

If we are to acknowledge this scripture without dissecting its content, or parsing the words, one can conclude that every time we fall asleep we have an opportunity to have a personal encounter with the “Most High God.” It’s an occasion that transcends the natural and catapults a believer into the realm of the supernatural. It is that fact that men, from the most earliest of times, have pursued, sought after, bargained for and sacrificed for entry into the world of the supernatural. They desired that which was unattainable in the natural. While some profess dreams are merely outlets resulting from human behavior, other positions hold that dreams can be more than one’s mind simply processing information.

During the Second World War German cryptography specialists developed a code apparatus known as the “Enigma Cipher.” It was a device so complicated the Allies were unable to decipher the intricate code transmissions that directed specific enemy attack orders. It wasn’t until the Allies captured a submarine in the Atlantic with the “enigma” aboard that deciphering enemy messages became possible. Like code enigmas, dreams too need to be deciphered. They are mysteries that need to be solved.

But how do you go about deciphering these nighttime messages? We can guess, we can surmise, we can offer weak observations, we can say maybe, check the crystal ball, check the star alignments, or simply conclude it’s our unconscious rearing it’s sometimes ugly head. On the other hand if one is serious about finding out a dreams true interpretation he must enter through the door that opens to the vista of the supernatural. Only then can the dream “enigma” mystery be truly solved and revealed.

I believe dreams are often nighttime messages from the Creator about things hidden that are meant to bring us closer to our spiritual destiny. It’s no more complicated than that. Many scholars throughout recent history have been embroiled in the pursuit of dream interpretation using only the intellect. While intellect can be a good thing it can only function and stops at the doorstep of the physical. We have been created to seek that which is beyond the natural. That is why we have had fortune tellers, card readers, palm readers and all kinds of mumbo-jumbo artists attempting to connect with that which is beyond the natural.

Hebraic writing is replete with accounts of men and women who have experienced that part of the supernatural that reveals foretelling, direction and even warnings. Why would someone be satisfied with simply accepting a dream interpretation that deals primarily with the soul when there is so much more to dreams in the supernatural? Since all men dream, it then follows these nighttime messages from God are designed for us to see beyond the natural, the obvious, in order to gain access to that which is hidden in the spirit realm.

Our God is a God that desires to have fellowship with us. How good is that!

The Pearl of Great Price

Most everyone, believers and non-believers, have heard of Solomon and the awesome divine wisdom God gifted him with. Along with this unfathomable gift came knowledge and understanding.

Realizing where wisdom comes from is extremely significant. When we take the time to read the history of wisdom in biblical accounts we come to grasp the importance of understanding divinely inspired wisdom. There are three sources of wisdom. The most prevalent being our intellect or the wisdom of the world. This is studied and learned views of habit structures whose primary source is man. This is not to imply that all man’s wisdom is wrong, absolutely not. However the tendency to be misled comes into play when we don’t allow God to enter in, to direct and guide all that we’ve learned, to be used for His glory.

The second source of wisdom comes from spirits of darkness. This wisdom’s purpose is not to enlighten and uplift an individual but rather its sole purpose is to instill deception and lies which is void of truth and light. Its ultimate purpose is death and darkness. This type of false wisdom is easily discerned by those who are true followers of Jesus.

The third source of wisdom comes from above (God) and is desired by all who know him. Because the source of this type of wisdom is love and light, it will lead us to our true spiritual destiny. Allowing God to enter into our lives as savior and Lord opens the windows of heaven and gives us the strength and courage to seek only His perfect will. Divine wisdom then is the pearl of great price that’s to be sought after and to be highly treasured.

Chocolate,Daycare, & a Dream

I want to share about how God talks to us through dreams to encourage us. Sometimes he even likes to get a bit creative and grab our attention by pulling out things from our dreams and giving it to us in our waking hours just to hit it home into our hearts.

I started a home day-care over a year ago. I attempted it once before and I hated it. I felt trapped, isolated and very bored. I knew that I wanted to work; I wanted to help pay our bills. My husband works very hard and I wanted to help other than by doing house work. So I went and handed out resumes all over town. I waited and waited but had zero response.

One day I was grocery shopping when someone who worked there came up to me and asked if I was still watching kids. I said no, and asked why. The man said he needed childcare for his two children. I said that I would come and visit him and his wife and would talk about it. I started watching his children. About three weeks later I had more people calling asking me to watch their children. Before I knew it, I was full.

About a month into starting the daycare I had a dream. In the dream I was in jail but the daycare looked like my daycare. I was sitting at the little kids table and was expecting a visit from my husband. I was hoping he would bring my computer so that I could have contact with the “outside world.” But when he arrived he didn’t have my computer. He told me “No, I couldn’t have it.” He then walked away. I was quite angry. Then the jailer came in. He looked at me with obvious compassion. He then told me to hold out my hand, I did, and he dropped a chocolate into my hand. I looked at the chocolate and I began crying. It meant to be enjoyed. I then woke up from the dream.

I thought about that dream for the next several weeks. I realized that the child care job was different this time. I was enjoying it. It was more comfortable and I was able to really be creative while having fun with the kids. It wasn’t stressful and it was a lot of fun. It wasn’t jail at all.

About a month later, during lunch time, one of the children, a three-year old girl stopped eating her lunch, put her spoon down on the table and looked at me. These are her exact words…”Marlene, when I put out my hand like this, (she held out her hand the exact way I did in my dream) and pray…God gives me chocolate.” I was shocked!! WHAT? Can you say that again? And she repeated again, word-for-word, with a big grin on her face.

I was overwhelmed. I truly believe that God was assuring me that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and that he is my provider, that he wants me to enjoy my everyday life and wants me to come to him just like a child, hold out my hand and ask for the tiny things that make me smile. What a great, great personal God.

Choices to Make

On November 12th, 2011, a seed was planted. I had no idea what the Lord began on this day would continue to such an extent. It was as though thoughts were being planted that continued for weeks on end. Weeks later, on December12th I began to write what I sensed was an important word for “now.”

   America is at a point of crises. We are confronted with questions that need to be answered and choices to be made on a daily basis. These include personal choices that affect this country as well as the entire world. Because of the lack of spiritual discernment there are leaders that have been elected and/or appointed who have been placed in positions of authority that are simply not God’s choice.

   Just as we read in the biblical account of 1 Samuel 8, “Even though God speaks man chooses his own way.“ Proverbs 14:12 says: “There is a way that seems right to man but in the end leads to death.” The gift of free will should be cherished by man. Just as God adheres to his law, so too, must man. Else we will suffer the consequences. In Hosea 8:4 it reads "They set up kings without my consent; they choose princes without my approval."

  Decisions are being made that affect everyone. God has given us the gift of life and liberty. But many have allowed a corrupt government to have control over their lives giving up blessings and gifts only God can give. Although most of the world will have choices to make this message was given to me expressly for America. It was strong and clear. The impression I had was that of concern, love and care.

   “We have important choices to make in the coming year. These decisions will either culminate in Godly blessings or disaster that will bring destruction and heartache such as has never before been experienced in this country before. God’s people are going to be called upon to stand in Jesus who is the way the truth and the life. The strength and courage that only God can give is an absolute necessity. These choices will not only affect individual lives but the country as a whole.”

   The message continued: In a vision: “I am seeing walls crumbling, solid bricks, and stone foundations being chipped away. I smell a horrible smell that is indescribable, so horrible that in my human understanding can only be identified as rottenness or putrid. I see in the spirit a cloud around the heads of many symbolizing dullness. Their minds and senses have been put to sleep as though a drug had been administered. This can only happen if the heart has been hardened with deception.”
   “Some have unknowingly stumbled into an acceptable attitude that is comfortable. Others have actually buried their heads in the sand not caring or understanding the dangers that surrounds them. I hear the word “danger” over-and-over again. Following this, as though it were in an echo chamber, the word “totalitarianism” came. (Totalitarian meaning a government in which one political group maintains complete control (under a dictator…one who favors such a government)

   “Although the first three months of the new year 2012 will seem uneventful, there is much going on behind the scenes that will begin to come to the forefront in the month of April. Anger, envy and greed will begin to rear their ugly heads. Three who seem politically strong will fall by the wayside. Although there will be natural disasters to contend with the Lord made it very clear that His concern for America is prominent. There will be a spotlight on particular states during the summer months of May, June, July and August, perhaps even into September and October. He mentioned New Hampshire, Hawaii, Illinois, particularly Chicago and several states in the Midwest. I saw a map of the Eastern United States with lights blinking along the coastline. They included Virginia and the Carolinas. I wasn’t quite sure about Georgia, but I did see the state of Florida.”

   Because our Creator is a God of unending and everlasting love, I believe the purpose for a word of this magnitude and intensity is because we are being called to pray for this nation. Those who have stood strong are being encouraged to continue. For others it will be a time to choose.

Golden Wrapping Paper

Once upon a time a man punished his five-year old daughter for using up the family’s roll of expensive gold wrapping paper before Christmas. Money was short, so he became even more upset when on Christmas Eve; he saw that the child had used the expensive gold paper to decorate a large shoebox she had put under the Christmas tree.

Nevertheless, the next morning the little girl, filled with excitement, brought the gift box to her father and said, “This is for you, Daddy!”

As he opened the box, the father was embarrassed by his earlier reaction, now regretting how he had punished her. But when he opened the shoebox he found it was empty and again his anger flared. “Don’t you know, young lady,” he said harshly, “when you give someone a present there’s supposed to be something inside the package!” The little girl looked up at him with sad tears rolling from her eyes and whispered: “Daddy, it’s not empty. I blew kisses into it until it was all full.” The father was crushed. He fell on his knees and put his arms around his precious little girl. He begged her to forgive him for his unnecessary anger.

An accident took the life of the child only a short time later. It is told the father kept this little gold box by his bedside for all the years of his life. Whenever he was discouraged or faced difficult problems, he would open the box, take out an imaginary kiss, and remember the love of this beautiful child who had put it there.

In a very real sense each of us as human beings have been given an invisible golden box filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children, family, friends and God.

There is no more precious possession anyone could hold.

Angels: a biblical perspective

Having read my blog on “Angels: A Biblical Perspective” I am re-printing the following comment submitted by “Ann” with her personal account regarding angels.

"I saw one of your posts on angels. Just the other night I believe an angel saved me from fire. And after it was over I thought "this is the second time God saved me from fire." When I was a teenager our house burned down and God woke me up. If he hadn't, I may not be here since the fire alarms did not go off until well after my room was filled with smoke and in the end my room was totally destroyed. I woke up the other night seeing a shadow moving across the room at the end of my bed. It did not scare me at all, but still sleepy, I just closed my eyes and went back to sleep. Then a bright white light blinked three times from the direction where the shadow moved. So I opened my eyes, thought well, might as well go to the bathroom since I'm awake now. When I did I saw a candle had been burning in the bathroom and the flame was very high, high enough to catch something on fire. Then I knew what the "shadow" and the blinking lights were about. Thank God that He continues to try to get our attention even when we just want to go back to sleep."

Within the pages of the bible, from Genesis to Revelation, there are countless passages referencing supernatural divinely inspired activity. Some are veiled while others are obvious. Of those readily apparent are angelic visitations. They score high on the list of heavenly events. Angels have appeared to man, acted as messengers, protected God’s people, battled against demonic forces and appeared to man in dreams and visions. Angels are beings created by God for the purpose of ministering to those that scripture refers to as heirs of salvation. The Bible specifically establishes that fact in Hebrews 1:14 “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?”

Angels have played key roles in many biblical events. The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary announcing the birth of Jesus. An angel appeared to Zechariah announcing the birth of John the Baptist. An angel brought the good news to shepherd boys announcing the birth of the Christ Child. An angel appeared to Joseph in a dream instructing him to take Mary and the child Jesus to another country. These are but a few of the instances of recorded angelic occurrences in the New Testament.

“I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north—an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. The center of the fire looked like glowing metal, and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures. In appearance their form was that of a man, but each of them had four faces and four wings. Their legs were straight; their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze. Under their wings on their four sides they had the hands of a man. All four had faces and wings, and their wings touched one another. Each one went straight ahead; they did not turn as they moved.”

Some angels have wings while others do not. The angelic beings created by God do possess gender. For example Hosts are usually female while Angels are male. Then there are Seraphim and Cherubim. Seraphim surround the throne of God and continually cry “Holy is the Lord” while the role of the Cherubim is that of guardians of the throne. There are also “watcher” angels who are mainly silent and are relegated to observe and watch. They are spiritually dispatched for two assignments: to watch all over the earth and to watch individuals. There is the “Angel of the Lord that encamps around those who fear Him.”

We all have a guardian angel. It is not unusual for some to have more than one. We don’t know why this occurs. However, I personally can attest to having seen them and at times sense their presence. On other occasions I have taught children who have shared they have seen angels and have smelled the accompanying precious heavenly fragrance of God. This should be the norm for all God’s children.
Primarily then, angels are supernatural beings linked closely with the work of God. They are not known to us simply as heavenly characters but rather as God’s personal agents. Since the Lord does not change and is the same yesterday, today and forever, the supernatural manifestations are as authentic for today as they were in times past. There has never been a cut-off time line. They are part of the past spiritual life, the present spiritual life, and the future spiritual life. God desires for us to experience this extraordinary part of His glorious creation.
Communication from the throne of God concerning angelic beings should be commonplace in our lives today. As we learn to surrender our insecurities and control of things, God will release more divinely inspired angelic experiences into our daily lives. It will be a natural occurrence.
Evangelist Billy Graham, in his book titled “God’s Secret Agents,” wrote: “Believers, look up, take courage. The angels are nearer than you think.”

The First Star Trek

The First Star Trek

Some people have asked the question “how did the three Wise men know to follow a star to Bethlehem to pay homage to the child Jesus, at his home, nearly two years after he was born. Their journey wasn’t one of chance. Rather their journey began with an interesting assumption that they likely had knowledge of a dream interpretation event that is recorded in the historical writings in chapter two of the book of Daniel which took place hundreds of years earlier during the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar. It is the story of Daniel interpreting the King’s dream saving the lives of all of his magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers, and Daniel, from death. As a result the Magi, or astrologers, highly revered Daniel and his God-given insights. They obviously kept the story alive throughout successive centuries.

We now fast-forward some 600 years. The three Wise men knew the story of the Kings dream, and more importantly the prophecies, which are recorded and speak of the coming of the Anointed One, the Christ.

God foretold to Daniel, by-way-of Gabriel, the exact time period when the promised Messiah was to be born. The Magi knew of this prophecy and of Daniel’s reputation as being credible in these matters. Because of that they considered him a phenomenal man, one who was to be taken seriously and who has been respected in every generation since. Having remembered the prophecy they now were filled with great anticipation and expectancy because they were now living within the life-time of the completion of the specified time period of between 30 and 40 years. They knew that if one was to appear on the scene as the Messiah in just 30 years, he would have to be born now. As a result they were looking for a sign. They would not be disappointed. They were about to see it.

The Holy Spirit was now actively involved in the process prompting the Magi into an attitude of great anticipation and wonder of what they were about to observe and experience…an unmistakable celestial occurrence. As a result the first star trek took place that eventually led the three Wise men to Bethlehem. Even the gifts they brought confirmed the implications of Jesus’ birth, his ministry and death.

Gold for example signifies God’s glory, the perfect gift for a King. Frankincense, a fragrant perfume used for anointing. Finally the third gift of Myrrh used for embalming the body for burial. Interestingly enough two of the three gifts presented to the baby Jesus related to his death and burial. The Wise men studied the age old prophecy in its entirety and knew exactly the kind of gifts to bring. The Daniel prophecy contained all the information they needed.

How did the three Wise men know to follow the star to Bethlehem? Their journey began because of a King’s dream so very long ago.

Let There Be Light

   Sensing the power and presence of God that surrounds us, and lives within us, is unspeakable and almost incomprehensible. Endeavoring to put into words this reality is an action that seems impossible to verbalize. Dreams are often messages from the Creator that takes us into a realm of spiritual understanding helping us to identify who He is, who we are, and at the same time revealing the unfathomable love he has for us as He invades our lives in the silence of the night.

   It is during these special times, when the Holy Spirit joins with our spirit, that His light is able to burst forth conquering our personal fears bringing healing coupled with teaching us truths that open the windows of heaven to divine intervention and communication with the one and only God, who is the Creator of the universe. It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Oh! How true it is. In one message of the night we can learn more about ourselves than we could ever imagine.

   As colors burst forth in our dreams with His brilliant light, they become vibrant, full of meanings that enlighten our minds and emotions resulting in an infusion of divine wisdom and guidance. These revelations catapult us into another dimension, a spiritual realm, that is unimaginable… messages that can bring us closer to God‘s spiritual purpose for our lives. In order to truly represent God we must first know Him and that he uses our dreams to reveal who he is, who we are, and what is our spiritual destiny.

  The maker of the universe, the all-powerful loving God, who has created us in his image, flows through our hearts and minds in the nighttime hours. He speaks directly through our dreams. He forms a collage of pictures, a tapestry of images, infused with divine light, offering love and intimacy that instills hope, purpose and destiny.

"detailing"

Are details important to you? I recently read an ad in our local newspaper that concerned auto detailing packages. I know without a shadow of a doubt that many, especially men, are very interested in keeping their cars “Spit Spot” as Mary Poppins would say. The “ad” covered a variety of packages to choose from and listed the various cost. The most extreme package included everything from one end of the car to the other. Wash, wax, buff, tires, wheels, carpets, shampooed, vacuumed, dashboards, doors, polished chrome, engine steam cleaned etc. etc. etc. If it was part of the vehicle it was subjected to a “do over.” If the package said “extreme detailing” there was no question that any and all conceivable parts of the vehicle would be subjected to impeccable attention all to improve its appearance. Details are just as important for women. If the occasion was of special importance she would obviously begin by choosing a dress, but not any dress that would be the first consideration followed closely by color, matching shoes, complimentary jewelry, manicure, facial, the purse must match, and of course a vital trip to the hair salon. Details are most important.

If we are truly interested in our spiritual destiny and God’s perfect will for our lives, detailing is a significant part of discovering who God is and what His purpose is for your life. Refocusing our attention on the question of “why” will enhance your spiritual experience that will point you in the right direction. Detailing, then, is all part of discovering one’s spiritual destiny.

Most dreamers realize that dream elements or details in a dream message can be pivotal to an accurate interpretation. Knowing the details incorporated in a vision is of paramount importance since they can contain deep meanings. Do you pay attention to the details? Do you ask questions? God is ever-so-willing to answer. His desire is not simply to correct us or warn us of danger but to teach us about His kingdom while welcoming and affording us an experience in the supernatural realm.

Recently, during a special time with Father God I had a great sense of angels, not just one or two but many. Their presence was unmistakable. The room was full of these awesome spiritual beings. As I sat wondering (and soaking in the wonderful feelings of their emitting light) I was simply reminded “to ask questions.” And so I did. Conversing with angels is a normal part of the supernatural experience. It is as simple as paying attention to the details. What color clothing are they wearing, why are they there, what are their names. Are they from God? What is their purpose, what is the message they carry from the “Most High God.”

Detailing should and must be a significant part of the spiritual experience. It is much more important than the details of everyday life. Although detailing plays a big part in the natural realm it is pivotal to spiritual growth and will increase your spiritual experiences which will, without a doubt, bring you closer to your spiritual destiny.

"Tuning In"

Hearing God clearly can be likened to turning on a radio and dialing through the numbers until you find a frequency that is free of ear-shattering static. Think of yourself, for a moment, as the one scanning through all those numbers trying to find that static-free frequency. By “tuning in” to the right frequency we then can begin hearing God, sensing his presence, regardless of the surroundings or busyness of any given day.

Keep in mind there are ways to detect the presence of God. Remaining in his presence is the key allowing all of our senses to be consistently tuned into the supernatural realm. Since the Lord is omnipresent he will use whatever means available to reach into our world. The question then remains: “are you willing to find that right frequency, to change your way of thinking and recognize that His ways are much different than ours.” I’ve included a number of ways which will help you tune into hearing God. If you wrap your arms around these suggestions, the results may very well involve much more than hearing. And that can be a very good thing.

1- Make every effort to live life in His presence.

2- Give God complete control of your emotions, giving him thanks will open the door for ne revelation and enlightenment.

3- Silence with an attitude of expectancy as you focus on the Lord.

4- While in this place of silence, dial down, ask, listen, and obey.

As you begin to progress on this journey know without a shadow of a doubt that you will rise to a higher spiritual level. Be completely open to receiving more dreams and journal what you hear and experience. You are a special child of the most-high God who desires to communicate with you.

Dreams: Junk Mail or Not !

If you were to interview twenty people walking on Main Street USA and ask the question “Why Do We Dream” you most likely would get twenty different answers. Of all the varied replies the most popular answers will be “I don’t know” or “I really don’t know if I dream.” That wouldn’t be surprising since most folks really don’t know why they dream. Some say they dream but don’t remember the dream. Others will say they never dream. The reality is people do dream. However battle lines are drawn by different groups as to where and how dreams originate and what are they’re meanings. While most agree that man dreams, the reasons why we dream are as far apart as the North Pole is from the South Pole.

Modernists will hold that we dream because it’s purely physical, i.e. it’s simply our emotions, sensations and memories that cause our brain to become active and may even produce new ideas. Some go so far as to use the metaphor of the computer saying dreams are similar to refreshing and cleaning-up cookies and cache that have cluttered our minds. They leave no room for the supernatural.

On the other hand many counter with centuries-old foundational references that are part of recorded biblical history. They give examples from the earliest times. One of the most notable events surrounding dreams is that of Joseph referenced in Genesis 37. Joseph dreamed about a bundle of cut stalks of grain that represented his parents and brothers would one day bow down to him. Later in prison he interpreted the dreams of Pharaoh’s baker and cupbearer and still later interpreted Pharaoh’s dream. Other examples can be found throughout accounts from Genesis to Revelation.

With these examples it’s clear that God uses dreams to communicate with man. This view is in startling contrast to that of the modernists who say dreams are essential to mental, physical and emotional well-being. Although these are physical facts, there is far more to the dream question. There are varied reasons why we dream. However, the most overlooked and misunderstood fact is that dreams are a form/method of communication initiated by our Creator. The

maker of the universe desires to communicate with us on a personal level. It is one portal that he uses in helping us realize our spiritual destiny.

We cannot treat dreams as junk mail. Dreams are important.

Soul vs Spirit

Knowing and understanding there is a difference between soul and spirit is, by far, a revelation that will help develop personal strengths that go beyond the soul, (mind, body and emotions) taking us to spiritual levels that are unimaginable.

Several years ago I heard a prayer “Lord cause my spirit to rule over my soul.” It was during a seminar on hearing the voice of God given by John Paul Jackson. I know that many may have heard this prayer and sincerely pray the prayer as I do. This is the prayer that begins my day and is repeated many times during the day.

There were days when I successfully and noticeably conquered the soul of selfish desires and responses, while other days it is quite the opposite. Understanding with compassion at times is a challenge. During those moments I could, in all honesty, feel the difference between the flow of the spirit overcoming the desires of the soul. (The personal effort and desire to be more like my Creator is what keeps me running in the race toward my divine destiny.)

Two awesome biblical examples recently brought new enlightenment for me that shows the significant benefits and strength we receive when our spirits rule over our souls. The first example is from the writings of Matthew in chapter 8. Jesus, in a boat with his disciples, during a raging storm, is asleep. He’s awakened and then calms the storm. The lesson is quite evident…whatever personal storm is raging we can be at perfect peace if we follow his example of allowing our spirit to rule over our human response.

The second example is also from Matthew in chapter 4. This is the account of Jesus being tempted by Satan in the desert and overcoming the temptations. We’ve all experienced times of dryness, sadness, hurts, betrayals and temptations that can cause our souls to rise up in anger and resentment. To strike back in these situations is a human response from the hurt we feel. However the desert account of the Lord is perhaps the greatest example of the spirit ruling over the soul. He was hungry. He was hurting. He was bombarded with subtle lies that would have brought momentary comfort, yet he allowed his spirit to rule, responding in the confidence he had in knowing the truth of his Father’s love.

If we are followers of the Creator how can we not learn His ways and then put them into action. Though we may not always be successful there is no better way than asking Him to give us the courage and perseverance needed to pray: “Father, cause my spirit to rule over my soul.”

Spiritual Warfare

Several weeks ago my husband, Stephen, was awakened from what seemed to be the beginning of a dream that turned into a physical demonic attack. The experience that occurred prompted me to share it simply because, quite often, we don’t hear about such happenings. After reading his account most will conclude the enemy is a dark force that comes to steal and destroy. This is his account.

“I had retired about 10:30 in the evening. Approximately two hours later I awoke realizing I had been dreaming about some object being thrown or tossed into a large bush or tree. I didn’t recall a specific about either of the items other than it was an object and vegetation of some type. As I abruptly sat up in bed thinking about what I had been dreaming, I was seriously struggling to breathe. If you ever had serious lung infection that required oxygen you know what I’m speaking of. I was literally gasping for breath. I knew it was real because I staggered into the bathroom wheezing and struggling to breathe. Returning to my bedroom changed nothing. I continued to gasp for air. What is going on? My wife was in the study working late. I didn’t want to alarm her. I just sat on the edge of the bed not being able to breathe. My initial error was I viewed my problem as being physical in nature. Some body organs were failing. It was a natural response. Trying to laydown changed nothing. I sat up once again… the bout continued. I looked at my alarm clock.. at least 17 minutes had passed since waking up.

It was then I finally reverted to what I needed to do from the onset… I should have responded spiritually. I did so by calling on the name of Jesus. As a believer I have the spiritual authority to come against such attacks. It is an ever present weapon to be used in any spiritual confrontation. As I called on the name of Jesus, within mere seconds, my breathing returned to normal. It was instantaneous.

The significant message of what transpired upon Stephen’s waking up is quite simple. It was a personal demonic attack that shows the extent to which the enemy will operate. What he experienced isn’t unusual since the adversary will use whatever means to nullify and prevent the advancement of the Kingdom of God. While the episode was frightening, it was a situation that was easily defeated with the Word. He should have immediately responded spiritually.

It’s quite possible that many folks experience similar attacks. They do occur. The reason we don’t hear about them is the person who experiences such an attack may feel no one will believe the story or that they’ll be laughed at as being naïve. In any event attacks such Stephen’s are real. Awareness of such attacks and how to claim victory over them is a spiritual weapon that causes major havoc in Satan’s domain.

A person may totally discount the episode as being akin to an old wives tale. But anyone who is aware of situations such as this can learn a valuable lesson from this true life experience.

Though demonic powers of darkness are real, the power of God is ultimately greater.

God does speak through dreams and visions. Biblical writings clearly tell us: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord will come to him in a vision. I will speak to him in a dream. (The God who created you wants your attention)

This is also crystal clear in the New Testament writings; the book of Acts. “It shall come to pass in the last days, “says God,” “I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; sons and daughters shall prophesy, young men will see visions, and old men shall dream.” God will direct and/or instruct us in our dreams as we read in the writings of Matthew Chapter one.

Dreams are not meant to be ruinous. Their purpose is calling us to change bringing us closer to our spiritual destiny. Supernatural gifts are given through dreams. Several examples are in 1Kings Chapter 3.

At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon during the night in a dream, and God said, Ask for whatever you want me to give you. So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?

I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. Then Solomon awoke—and he realized it had been a dream. He returned to Jerusalem, stood before the ark of the Lord’s covenant and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then he gave a feast for all his court.”

Since the beginning of time Creator has spoken to man through dreams and visions. The communication has never stopped. The words, the pictures, the dreams still flow. God continues to commune, impart and enlighten mankind. Everyone who is willing to pay “ATTENTION” understands that Dreams are Important!!

Spiritual Scientists

“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart.” Prov. 22:6

Have you known people who, from your perspective, raised their children in the things of God and taught them to get to know God, for themselves, yet in some instances, this verse appears as if it’s not true? I know I have.

Anytime I have experienced something that makes it seem like there must be a mistake in the Word of God, I let it cause me to become like a “Spiritual Scientist.” Seeking God and searching the Word to discover what I am not understanding becomes paramount to me. Recently, I have received a great revelation that has application for me, so thought I’d share a little of my story.

God has blessed me with three children. All three of them were seers from birth. Our oldest was born seeing and gifted in discerning spirits. At that time, nearly thirty years ago, my husband and I were completely unaware of these types of gifting, and missed so many things for which we now wish we’d had greater understanding. We began learning about the spirit realm about the time our oldest was entering high school. A real blessing is that through them and their conversations, my eyes were opened to how I was gifted that I’d simply thought was normal for everyone. God will show us anytime we are ready and willing to learn.

Because of the particular destiny placed by God into one of our children, we were ‘at odds’ you might say, from Day 1. This person’s “bent” is to go INTO ALL of the “world” (meaning the typical places that lost people tend to hang out), and reach people with the unconditional love, and compassion of God via prophetic words, dream interpretation, healing, signs and wonders. My husband, and I are destined to NOT go into ALL of the ‘world’, but to go into the CHURCH and help equip people to know who they are in Christ, know what they have, in Him, and how to experience all that is theirs, so they can disciple and equip others.

All of my life, I lived walking in the way I was gifted—though unaware. I simply ‘knew’ which way to go, which places to AVOID and so on. All of my ‘evangelical’ attempts never seemed to ‘work’ because everyone I came in contact with were already saved, and were simply needing some counsel, insight, or encouragement. We were set up for a clash. My husband and I were trying to teach our child to avoid situations, to avoid certain types of people, and so on. We took advantage of all kinds of Christian types of experiences, but never understood why there seemed to be an element of resistance in some ways.

Our focus overshadowed the way God had created our child to be. Now, we understand that we dropped -the-ball by not providing the appropriate mentoring experiences by people who were involved in street ministry via prophetic words of encouragement, sharing the interpretation of their dreams, laying hands on the sick, seeing them recover and the like.

I am thankful that there is “therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ.” Rom. 8:1 for even though we missed the way this one was wired, there has been a lot of Truth implanted. God is THE GREAT TEACHER and will make sure our children get what we failed to give them, and in that, they will know God in the way that is uniquely theirs..

I have been a dreamer my whole life. God used my chidren’s dreams, from a very early age, to cause me to pay closer attention to my own dreams and stirred a strong desire for me to learn how to discern what they mean. Through this, God opened opportunities for me to learn about prophetic street evangelism. I am hooked, even though I’m primarily called to Discipleship Ministry, and mentoring leaders.

In spite of my ignorance, opportunities now abound for our child and many others to be involved with people on- the- street/in workplaces, etc. to give words of encouragement for everyday Grace-Living.

I encourage you to delve into Mary Ann’s dream web-site and take advantage of all she offers to help you learn how God can, and does speak to us through dreams and visions. I encourage you, as parents, to listen to God regarding His plans for your children. Get them involved with trusted mentors as early as is reasonable and appropriate so they can mature and become equipped to better flow in the things of God for blessing, encouraging, and healing others.

GOD IS NOT BIPOLAR

A friend-of-a-friend posted a note on Facebook saying they believed God made her knees and thyroid a mess because she had ADD and is OCD about cleaning; so He caused her health problems to slow her down. If that is correct, then did He also cause the ADD and OCD? Wouldn't that make God somewhat bi-polar? This kind of thinking, I believe, grieves the heart of God. I’m not sure where the idea that God makes people sick to teach them a lesson started, but it was obviously from a source that does not understand the pure, unadulterated love of God for His children. I’m reminded of a scripture that talks about this: “Or what man is there among you who, when his son asks for a loaf, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake, will he? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!” Matthew 7:9-11 NASB

God is the ultimate Good Daddy and He desires health and wholeness for His children, so much so, part of the reason Jesus was sacrificed on the cross was to provide for our healing. “By His stripes (the marks on His back from the beating He received before He was killed on the cross) we ARE healed.” We tend to complicate things when God has made them very simple: He loves us; he provided for our healing, we just have to receive it. Isaiah 53:5. "God is NOT bi-polar." He would not provide for our healing through the sacrificial death of His son, Jesus, and then turn around and make us sick to teach us a lesson. That is just not how He rolls!

Speaking of bi-polar illness, I’d like to share my testimony on that subject. When I had my second child, a beautiful girl, she was very sick with apnea and would simply stop breathing without warning. When she was three weeks old, she was admitted to Brenner’s Children’s Hospital (Wake Forest, North Carolina) where they performed a series of tests trying to find the source for the apnea. When she had been there for a couple of days, one our friends came by to tell us that when she was praying for Bonnie that morning, God had told her that Bonnie would never have another apnea attack, she was healed! I desperately wanted to believe her, but it took me six months to realize that from that moment on, Bonnie never had another apnea episode and I finally allowed her to be taken off the heart monitor. God truly healed my baby girl!

Unfortunately for me, the stress of that situation put me into a permanent state of “fight or flight” mode and I went into a two-year period where I never slept more than three hours at a time. If Bonnie made the slightest noise, I was awake and checking on her. I couldn’t leave her with a babysitter so that my husband and I could have date, because I couldn’t trust anyone to be as vigilant as I was. I even took over running the nursery at church so that I could stay with her during services. We didn’t realize until she was almost two years old that I had severe post-par tum depression, probably exacerbated by the stress and lack of sleep. By the time she was 21 months old, I was hospitalized for what would be a series of stays in the mental ward. The post-par tum depression had morphed into a life-threatening bi-polar illness. For nine years my manic episodes were full-out rages that terrorized my husband and children. I tried to kill myself several times and falsely believed that I would be doing my family a favor if I died. I was so out of control and it seemed like all the medications in the world couldn’t get a handle on it. I remember screaming at my poor husband, “WHY don’t you leave me?!? What is wrong with you that you are staying and taking all this abuse?!?” He would point his finger in my face and tell me, “I will never leave you! I am praying for you and God is going to heal you!” Unbelievable!! What kind of man does that? I’ll tell you what kind of man – a Godly one! A hero. My hero.

Nine years later, I was invited to a woman’s prayer group where they “practiced hearing God for each other.” It’s a good thing she didn’t tell me it was a prophetic prayer group, because I’d of put on my tennis shoes and RUN! However, I did go, even though I was in the middle of a bad manic episode. At the meeting, they prayed and prophesied over me. A couple of the ladies knew that I had trouble with depression, but they had no idea how bad it was. They gave me some of the most beautiful, loving words I’ve ever heard about how much God loved me and for some reason, in that moment, I believed them. I felt my brain go calm. This was a very different sensation that what I was used to because my brain raced all the time. I remember walking out of the house later than night and seeing all the stars in the midnight blue sky and just standing there drinking in the beauty of it all, feeling so completely at peace. So calm. What a wonderful, marvelous thing!!

I didn’t realize immediately that I was completely, amazingly healed of the very mental illness a lot people have said God does not heal. What a lie to say that about God! He does heal and He heals ALL sickness and ALL disease. It says that over and over again in the Bible, so why do we have such a hard time believing that? The next time my psychiatrist saw me, I didn’t even have to say anything. She asked me what had happened to me because she could see the peace on my face. I went off five medications the first month and it took about a year to get off of three others. My psychiatrist had me share my testimony at a bi-polar support group because the transformation was so obvious (then she fired me as a patient!) and my husband says he’s got back the girl he married. God completely healed me on June 9, 2003 and released a prophetic destiny about which, I was completely clueless prior to that date. I have not looked back; praise God, except to give Him the glory for healing me!

How Long Do Dreams Last?

Over the years I have observed my wife, Pastor Mary Ann interpreting a wide variety of dreams. Some dreams were in the category of one-liners; others, quite often, were of epic proportions. I quickly realized that regardless of their length all dreams are messages from God and are of great individual importance. So I began looking into what I call “the time factor.” Short dreams, when recorded, whether they contain one line or ten, could lead the dreamer to conclude the dream may have taken place in the matter of a few minutes. On the other hand a recorded dream of 50 lines may indicate the dreamers experience may have lasted 20 minutes or more because of more details, scenes or circumstances. These assessments may be valid in light of the fact that we equate everything occurring in our life based on the reality of “earth time” as we know it.

Having said all of that I would like to share with you a totally different revelation I received regarding the answer to my question “Lord, how long do dreams last?” That’s a question that has always been somewhat perplexing to me since I never read or heard anyone allude to the subject. Not that it matters because I know it’s the message that’s important. Nevertheless I wondered. The answer I received was a bit startling yet spiritually plausible.

While we conclude our dream may have taken place in minutes or even hours, that’s not the case at all. “God communicates his personal message to us in what we can describe as “in the blink of an eye” i.e. he downloads the message instantaneously much like we send an email….hit “send” and it’s gone. Once we receive the message we then decipher it in our terms of earth time while in the spirit realm it had taken place in the span of a mere nanosecond.”

Everything we do is basically governed by the clock. We determine our activities, schedules, work, travel, longevity and everything else in the frame work of “earth time.” We have no other concept. God on the other hand operates quite differently since there is no time in the spirit realm. His ways quite frankly are not our ways.

I now realize that God compresses his messages to us in that nanosecond yet we are able to remember, comprehend and label it in terms of human time.

How long do dreams last? Blink your eye.

Call Me "Papa"

By the Year 2000 I had experienced the manifest presence of God in many ways. Although I had been hearing his voice in the natural and spiritual since 1978, later on I began seeing in the spirit in both dimensions, negative and positive. I knew Jesus personally and had an intimate relationship with Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. It was a smooth but sometimes bumpy spiritual journey, a journey of growing and maturing in learning the depth of father God’s love and his ways, learning to discern between dark forces, the natural/soul and the Holy Spirit.

It was the year 2000 during a time of intense worship; I was experiencing the glory of God very powerfully. I was attending a Catch the Fire conference in Toronto, Canada, on the “Fathers Love” with many others. As I stood worshipping, hands raised and tears rolling down my face, I was immersed in the unconditional, unfailing, everlasting love God had for me. It was simply an atmosphere of heavenly glory. One moment I was in the throes of worship and in the next instance I was catapulted head-on into my first experience of being spiritually transported. I was speechless. This was something I had only read about in the bible and heard as testimonies from others who had had this type of experience. I was instantaneously at the throne of God and yet I knew I was still in the conference room worshipping. It was strange to say the least. I was a grown woman but was automatically sitting on the lap of father God. The peace I was experiencing was nothing I had ever tasted or felt before. The light was so pure and bright I hid my face in his chest.

There are no words to describe what I was feeling, seeing, tasting, smelling or touching. As I gained enough courage to look into his face I felt as though I were floating in a pool of fire that didn’t burn. I simply felt warmth like never before. And then His voice, soothing and flowing over me like warm honey, I heard the words, “Call me Papa.” I have always called God, "Father" or “Abba” or at times “daddy.” As he said those words to me I felt a freedom, a liberty, and have called my creator “Papa” ever since. I felt closer and more special than ever before. It ended suddenly and I was back in the conference room but I was so overwhelmed with his presence I couldn’t stand.

As I have said this was a first experience for me but it wasn’t the last time that I’ve been transported. It was just the beginning of a wonderful new spiritual adventure. I don’t know what it will lead to but I know for certain that the Creator has a plan and a purpose for me. I don’t know what it all entails but I know, most certainly, I am headed for a spiritual destiny that He is in the process of completing my on-going life’s purpose as he sees fit and in his perfect timing.

CSI: Contacting Seasoned Interpreters

If you’re a dreamer chances are good you would like to know what your dream means. But where do you go? Who can interpret the dream? Will it be the “real deal?” There are several areas to address which involve distinctive attributes of the interpreter. Here are a few areas you may want to consider.

ARE YOUR DREAMS IMPORTANT TO YOU?

Are they important enough to search out a credible, gifted, well-trained interpreter in dreams and visions? Does the interpreter have a proven track record of inspired revelation that produces accurate interpretations…someone who can give the guidance, direction, encouragement and enlightenment which the Creator intended from the beginning?

MINDSET/METHOD Is the psychological mindset/method of Freud, Gestalt or Jung a top priority or do you subscribe to the spiritual aspect of the Ancient Hebraic method? (Freud, Gestalt and Jung believe that dreams originate in our sub-conscious while the Hebraic method is biblical anchored in the belief that most dreams are divinely inspired messages from God.)

FOUNDATIONAL BELIEF SYSTEM OF THE INTERPRETER Is the person a follower of Jesus? Are character, integrity and trustworthiness of the interpreter important to you? Would you trust the person with a confidential dream, one that may be most intimate? Does the interpreter display a sincere interest in you and your dream? Will they take the time to investigate, to seek wisdom and pray through your dream? Is there undeniable humility? Will the person take the time to answer your questions?

Is the interpreter focused on the language of the dream keeping intact God’s purpose for the message of the night or does he/she add personal opinion or counsel? Does the interpreter have revelatory ability…has the person been trained or studied under credible dream interpreters learning this specialized skill? Or have they simply had a few psychology courses or read some books, or perhaps interpreted some of their own dreams? A seasoned, skilled interpreter will have had hundreds, if not thousands of dream interpretations gracing his/her resume.

I’m encouraging you to always keep in mind the gift of revelation and the skill of interpretation…they go hand-in-hand. Both are of paramount importance when functioning in the realm of dream and vision interpretation.

               hidden messages in dreams

During the process of my education and experience in dream interpretation I have learned some important points in discovering the hidden messages in dreams. What I am sharing is some do’s and don’ts as you begin a journey through what could be at times, a frustrating undertaking.

A.    What to look for. Not all dreams are inspired by God.
Nevertheless those that are not from God are allowed by him for
a reason. Always remember to seek revelation concerning what the message is to the dreamer.
B.   Put yourself in the place of the dreamer… enter into the dream and ask questions: who is the dream about, what
is it about, where does the dream take place….and the all important “why.” Why did God give the dream? Why was
a truck in the dream rather than a car? Why was it nighttime and not day time? Why was the apple blue and not
red?
C.    Think metaphorically. Dreams are symbolic. They mean something other than what they may seem to be.
Occasionally dreams may be literal in nature. However there are hidden messages that need to be searched out. It’s
akin to discovering the key that unlocks the treasure chest.   Literal means the bomb in the dream is real.
Metaphorical means the element is symbolic of something else. Example: a prison scene could represent spiritual
bondage or a bomb would be an allegory for an explosive situation. .
D.   There are varied categories of dreams. Discerning the actual category of the dream is a priority. It’s the key
that will open the door to a correct interpretation.
E.   Pay attention to the action in a dream. Notice what is being done especially by the dreamer who is 95% of the
time the focus of the dream. If you’re in doubt as to the focus of the dream choose the dreamer. The main thing is
knowing whether or not the element itself is literal and how to apply it. Pay attention to direct quotes.

Being emotionally involved or being too close to a situation can often times color an interpretation. This is one of the
mistakes that can skew the interpretation. Another common error in interpreting is not keeping the main thing the
main thing. Not every detail in a dream is important. Stay focused on the purpose and theme. Prayer for insight
and revelation is essential.

Don’t assume your dream is about your husband. He most likely is symbolic of something other than the man you’re
married to. Just as dreaming about your dog may very well symbolize trust, loyalty or protection.
One of the most common mistakes that I’ve recognized is that many people ignore their dreams as laughable or
perhaps caused by the pizza they’ve eaten the night before. As insignificant as your dream may appear it is worthy of
searching out the meaning. Record your dreams. Was it in color? Give it a title. God may be using your thoughts
or emotional experiences during sleep to reveal a mystery in parabolic language to bring healing, offer protection,
direction or a spiritual truth concerning the past, present or future.
Don’t jump to conclusions. Every dream has a purpose. It’s the reason the dream was given. What type of dream
was it? Was it revelation or was it simply a truth concerning one’s individual life?    Don’t overlook the importance
of discerning the originations of your dream.

I have been extensively trained in the ancient Hebraic method of dream interpretation. This method teaches there
are three sources from which our dreams come from: God, soul, or demonic. Dreams from God are meant to
encourage. Even though the dream may be a message of the night, that could involve correction or warning, it will
always, in some way, reveal God’s everlasting love.

Soul dreams are personal and reveal emotional or soulish desires. This type of dream is not necessarily bad but
identifying our humanness as the source is of paramount importance.
Demonic dreams stem from the father of lies and carry with them deception. It is important to identify what is
counterfeit from that which is truth.
While on this journey of gaining wisdom in the realm of dream interpretation be encouraged as you learn, test and
implement the many aspects of dream interpretation.                                         03/2010

Interpretation vs: Translation

INTERPRETATION:

to explain or give a conception of a word. It is not re-wording the dream.

TRANSLATION:

to change from one language to another while retaining the original meaning.

The definitions of these words are closely related. However, when interpreting dreams we are searching for God's hidden message to the dreamer. We are seeking spiritual revelation; believing, as in scripture, God is communicating with the dreamer. This is significantly different than translating the language of the dream by retaining the original meaning of the elements. In a sense translating could be taking the message of the dream more literally than it is intended to be rather than discovering the spiritual message. The interpretation of symbols in a dream should be revelatory and in conjunction with the entire context of the dream. Example: If a dream contains an apple merely changing the term, apple, to a fruit, is translating and not interpreting. In seeking revelation to what God is saying to the dreamer by using the apple as a symbol could be speaking of health or peace. It depends on the context of the dream.

Interpreting dreams is a revelatory gift and a learned skill"

We learn from ancient Hebraic writings there is one distinct
and meaningful interpretation for every dream. However, because
most dreams are symbolic, i.e. one thing or person represents
something else: the meaning of a particular symbol may vary
whether the subject matter is simple or obvious.
Example: "You are constantly getting in and out of different

automobiles." Perceiving that the car is literal may lead one to
believe the person will be shopping for a new car. This can be
a happy thought. However, it is more probable the car is symbolic
and could indicate, among other things, the dreamer is about to
change jobs or occupation.

Infrequently a person may have what is described as a "pizza dream."
These are scattered dreams, often absurd, having no focus brought
about at times by medical procedures,medications, sickness or
trauma.Regardless, dreams are an important part of our lives.
Those messages should never be minimized or discarded.

Little Things Mean a Lot !

Humans quite often don’t pay attention to the “small stuff.” They’re more than likely to be “pooh-poohed” as not being relevant or important or don’t bother me with that “small stuff.” Yet it’s the “small stuff” that in the end prove to be most valuable. Still, small things mean a lot. The tongue, small by comparison with other parts of the body, can build or destroy. A speck of dust in your eye can prove to be disabling. A small rudder on a large ship determines the ships course. If an engineer misses a decimal point in his blueprint for a skyscraper, tragedy may result. Or one extra chromosome in your body can change your appearance. Or what would an athlete accomplish without a pair of shoelaces or Velcro attached to his shoes?

Small things mean a lot. Kitty Kallen several years ago recorded a song with the same title, “Little Things Mean a lot.”

Blow me a kiss from across the room

Say I look nice when I’m not

Touch my hair as you pass my chair

Little things mean a lot

Give me your hand when I’ve lost my way

Give me a shoulder to cry on

Whether the day is bright or gray

Give me your heart to relay on

Give me your arm as we cross the street

There are so many small things that go unnoticed and relegated to the “don’t bother me with the “small stuff” bin. While it may seem small, I’m thankful for the small motor that cools my refrigerator… it holds a thirst quenching drink in the heat of summer. It may be small but my cell phone keeps me in touch with my family wherever I go 24/7. It may be small but my coffeemaker brews a great cup of coffee.

Whether is a shoelace or Velcro, a speck of dust or the tongue or a still small voice, little things really mean a lot. Someone once said “If you want to change big things, you pay attention to small things."

To Share or Not to Share

Dreams are not given to make you look good or give you control over anyone or any group. The Lord shares things with us that are meant to teach us how to develop a deeper relationship with Him or how we should pray for someone we are concerned about.

Having a dream with another person in it does not give us permission to share it. It could mean we are being invited to pray for them or they may be symbolic of something or someone else. There are times when the Lord releases a dream that concerns our spiritual destiny or He may reveal that He is going to do something very special in our life. Even though you would like very much to share your joy with those close to you it may be a message for your eyes only. As we grow we learn to discern the voice of God more clearly. That old statement comes to mind.... "Practice makes perfect."

I remember a statement made by a mentor of mine some years ago, John Paul Jackson, who made a point of teaching on the importance of private victories. This attitude of humility helps us to learn to understand God's voice weather we are receiving a dream, hearing His voice or seeing into the spirit realm. Caution is always a good practice because our dreams are not always meant to be shared. Consistently ask for a release from the Lord as to whether or not your dream is to be shared.

Studying the account of Joseph in biblical writings (Genesis 37) will give you great insight into circumstances concerning difficulties that came from sharing dreams. Perhaps they were meant to be private or the element of time may have been involved.

UP DATED: Classification Types and Categories

Following is an index of dream classifications. I have chosen 19, and, as you will notice, I have combined several of them which I’ve discovered have the same objective. This is not a comprehensive list of dream categories by any means. I have learned that God’s most prevalent purpose for dreams is encouragement. However, determining the category or classification of a dream can require more intense investigation. As you progress in your study of dream interpretation you will begin to understand that discovering these clues are necessary for correct dream interpretation.

1-HEALING DREAMS: This type of dream results in forgiveness and love toward those who have hurt you. It will enable you to understand the other person’s heart and reassures you of God’s desire to heal and to restore and bring peace which may include physical or emotional healing.

2-CALLING/PREPARATION/TRAINING DREAMS: Are illustrations that show a special ability, purpose or vocation the dreamer is being called to. It is often a divine invitation to venture into a realm that is new and may include language that implies a time of preparation and/or training for a special task.

3-BODY/ SOUL/CHEMICAL DREAMS: These dreams can go hand in hand because they may be an effect the body is experiencing resulting from physical illness, medications, or other drugs. Body dreams can also be the result of human desires, heart issues or circumstances that need to be dealt with. The usual purpose in a dream of this type would be to encourage the dreamer.

4- DARK DREAMS/FEAR DREAMS: Again, these are two types of dreams in which the meanings can be linked. The general tone of dark dreams is foreboding and will instill fear and intimidation. They could be in black and white or muted in color. Both these kind of dreams, if not understood, can leave us with a bitter taste and create a negative influence in our life. Learning how to respond to this type of dream is important.

5-COURAGE DREAMS: These dreams release in the dreamer, motivation, initiative, perseverance and courage to overcome difficulties they are facing in their life. These dreams are meant to instill in the dreamer ability to overcome and will often include instruction and direction.

6- WARNING DREAMS: Do exactly what the term implies. They alert the dreamer to danger whether it concerns someone close or for ourselves. It could be something in your life that you need to discontinue or stay away from or something from the past that is having a negative affect…… perhaps it is to help us recognize danger that could affect us adversely if we step into something that is not for us.

7-ENCOURAGEMENT: These dreams can very well co-inside with God’s purposes (which I believe is the main reason for most spiritual dreams.) These are meant to inspire the dreamer to continue on with what God has called them to, or perhaps just continuing on with everyday life while reassuring the dreamer that God cares and is with them.

8-CONFIRMING DREAMS: These dreams will endorse, validate, or authenticate the direction, actions or motivations of the dreamer. It simply gives the dreamer the go ahead…. you’re on the right path… keep- on-keeping-on.

9-PROMISE DREAMS: A promise dream stimulates and invigorates the dreamer with divinely inspired suggestions. It is a sign or pledge, assurance of more to come.

10-SELF CONDITION DREAMS: This type of dream is one that reveals something about the dreamer, their emotional state, personal issues, their perception about another person or circumstances in their life. It will help the dreamer to understand what is happening and shows them where they are and how they are being affected by their attitude. It also helps to identify problems and conditions that surround them.

11-INTERCESSION, PRAYER: These are frequent, ordinary types of dreams which are common place to a dreamer. They are not demanding but usually are an invitation to come closer to the Lord personally. The dream focuses on you and your relationship with Him. However, the dream may also be a request for you to pray for someone else, perhaps a family member, a neighbor or a friend. It could also be a call to pray for your spiritual community or the protection of our armed forces. It may depend on how deeply you flow in the gift God has given you.

12-CLEANSING or FLUSHING DREAMS: These dreams can be very similar in language and meaning. Cleansing dreams usually occur in the bathroom and imply using the toilet. They are about purification and show that God is working with the dreamer to remove any toxic material that can prevent or block the dreamer’s process in achieving the spiritual growth the Lord desires for them. As stated above a dream of this type could imply the flushing out of anything whether spiritual or personal that could hinder spiritual advancement. Taking a bath or a shower also deals with the cleansing process but is different in the sense that it is about washing away negatives we may have come in contact with in the process of daily activity or issues in our life that could have caused stresses that need to be washed away.

13-CORRECTION / CHANGE / IMPROVE: We do at times receive a message from the Creator that encourages us to change. It may be a habit structure, activity or an incorrect perception. Issues in our life that need to be dealt with. There may be a need for the dreamer to alter or modify part of their life that will restore a relationship or help the dreamer come closer to their divine destiny.

14-FALSE DREAMS: False dreams are a counterfeit or imitation of the real thing. It is a sham that masks itself as a message from God. It is counterproductive. This kind of dream comes from the father of lies and involves deception. A simple example: The devil will tell you it is alright to lie to someone because it is for a greater good. We know it is wrong to lie. God’s purpose in releasing a dream like this is to confirm His authority and truth and alert us to the tactics of the enemy. These dreams are usually in black and white and leave the dreamer with negative feelings. Dreams from God are encouraging. He is love and desires us to grow spiritually and understand His ways.

15-SPIRITUAL WARFARE-DREAM: These are essentially for prayer and intercession but in a more powerful way. It requires spiritual boldness and authority and is a stronger more developed ability. In this type of dream dealing straight forward with spiritual darkness can be frightening. It is allowed sometimes as a warning or revelation so that we will know what we are up against. Speaking directly to the spirits of darkness with authority in the name of JESUS can change the outcome of the dream and when this is done the attack must stop. Training and preparation may be necessary to handle this kind of dream correctly.

16-DIRECTION, GUIDANCE DREAMS: These dreams will give you specific information that inspire and give you understanding to make the decision God desires for you. It will show you clear direction as to how you should respond to situations and instruction concerning personal issues and choices you need to make. You may wake with a sense of peace and confirmation as you walk the path God has purposed for you.

17-WORD OF KNOWLEDGE/ENLIGHTMENT DREAMS: These dreams inspire and enlighten one to understand situations, issues, or people with information they had no prior knowledge of. These dreams will open doors into the supernatural world as well as the natural world. The can inspire creativity and give solutions and ideas for inventions or answer questions or solve problems. Ideas that solve problems such as the invention of the sewing machine by Elias Howe and other great medical and scientific discoveries that have been credited to dreams.

18-REVELATION/PROPHECY DREAMS: Although revelation and prophecy are both revelatory in nature as is word of knowledge there is a difference between the two. God’s purpose of revelation in a dream is to help us unveil a mystery in our lives in order to clarify the purpose of the revelation. However, a prophetic dream focuses on more predictive revelation. Such as, “what is going to occur in the future either for you personally, that of a friend or perhaps a group you are involved with?” It could possibly be for your town, country, and the body of Christ, the nation, or political circumstances. The Lord at times will reveal details about the prophetic word for the purpose of prayer. A dream of a prophetic nature is most often literal but will include symbols that must be properly interpret to keep your focus on the message God is releasing to you.

19-LIBERATION/DELIVERANCE/EMANCIPATION DREAMS: These are words that have the same meaning and basically target the desire God has to bring freedom and liberty to the dreamer or others involved in the dream. Breaking the powers of evil and releasing those concerned from the bondage and/or prison they have been caught up in or confined in. This type of dream holds a divine promise of freedom and liberty.

Dreams = Inventions

Dreams that have been documented involving famous people have been recorded throughout history. Scientists, musicians, writers, inventors, and sportsmen have solved problems and invented marvelous creations that have had dramatic influences on almost every important aspect of our culture and history. These "thinkers" found that they were more receptive to ideas in the dream state where there is less resistance or distraction in normal waking hours. It follows then, the Creator can and does speak to us about marvelous things when asleep. Here is a list of some dreamers who dreamed dreams that translated into reality.

Elias Howe: In 1845 invented the sewing machine. His had a dream that helped him understand how the penetration of the needle would work in his invention.

Albert Einstein: His theory of relativity was inspired by a dream whereby he was going down a mountainside ever faster and watching the appearance of the stars change as he approached the speed of light.

Dr. Frederick Banting: The cure for diabetes came to him in a dream. He won the Nobel Prize in medicine.

Lewis Redner: On Christmas Eve during a fretful sleep he heard music in a dream. He awoke and wrote the melody to lyrics supplied by his Pastor, Phillip Brooks, which endures to this day. The song we sing every Christmas is "O Little Town of Bethlehem."

Jack Nicklaus: In 1964 Nicklaus discovered a new golf swing in a dream bringing him out of a horrendous golf slump.

David Parkinson: A bell Laboratories engineer had a dream in 1940 that helped develop the potentiometer.. an essential part of an artillery gun that resulted in the new M9 weapon used on missiles. It helped change the course of WW2.

. J. Walker: She suffered from a scalp infection that caused her to lose her hair in the 1890's. She had a dream about certain ingredients needed to solve the problem. She founded a successful African America cosmetic company that made her a millionaire.

I am quite sure there are many more dreams still occurring today on a regular basis that are influencing many people, famous or not, in a positive way. Quite possibly you are one of those them.

Fact Finding

    God always has a reason for the messages of the night that He speaks to us. The main purpose being to INSPIRE, ENCOURAGE and MOTIVATE us to reach the OBJECTIVE of the dream. There are a variety of classifications for dreams and I have learned that the purpose and the classification of the dream often go hand-in-hand. There are times when searching out the dreams purpose for a dream or classification may become confusing to a beginner. If you experience this I would suggest that staying focused on the dream and it's interpretation and it will allow the purpose and/or category to fall into place.

    Arriving at a correct interpretation is imperative before you begin to apply the message of the dream. The largest percentage of dreams are symbolic, however, they can at times be literal. Literal dreams are easily understood but knowing the element of time involved as to when and how to apply this type of dream is significant. Believing that God is the source of our dreams, prayer, spiritual revelation and the knowledge and skill that you have learned through study will help you arrive at a correct interpretation.

Dreams fall into two groups. (a) INTRINSIC which means the dream is about you and your circumstances or (b) EXTRINSIC meaning the dream is calling your attention to someone or something other than yourself which more often than not is an invitation to pray. Discovering which class your dream falls into may require some examination. Once you have made this decision it is time to study the dream and choose the category…genre or purpose of the dream.

    There are a number of different types or categories of dreams to choose from and as you move forward in the learning process you may discover other classifications that help you identify what the dream is about. God has unveiled some categories to me personally that have helped me interpret many dreams. He has also shown me that there are categories that can be combined because they have characteristics that carry the same meaning. God’s desire is to communicate with us and He enjoys answering questions that will cause the message He has given to be more clearly understood.

Re-Calculating

It’s often said that we have a God of the second chance. I believe we not only have a God of the second chance, but a God of third, fourth, fifth and on-and-on chances. That’s good to know since we would all be in spiritual prison if it were not for a merciful and loving God.

You know what I’m talking about. Who of us have not experienced the pangs of guilt, frustration and thoughts of “there I’ve done it again,” succumbing to some personal weakness that’s muddied the waters? Something you don’t care to talk about. There is good news. We serve a God of the second chance who never gives up on us even though we’ve wandered off into the brush and briers. Having said that, I want to apply the notion of second chances to something we’ve all heard about or have already experienced. It concerns a gadget.

I like new gadgets. In fact one of the greatest items to stock the retail shelves in recent years is a GPS unit… ground positioning satellite. It’s a navigational device that, when destinations are inserted, will take you there using satellite positioning. It will give a visual reference point as to where you are, it details speed limits and estimated time of arrival. By voice it tells you to turn here, drive 600 feet, then turn right onto this street or another highway and your destination is in sight. If you’re looking for a hotel or restaurant a few clicks will give you a visual alphabetical selection within seconds. But the most significant aspect of GPS is …it talks to you. It announces the name of exits and streets so you never have to take your eyes off the road. When you set your destination point driving becomes an easy trip. However, if you miss a critical turn, within seconds a voice breaks in with a word of encouragement and announces “RECALCULATING.” What a reassuring sound. This wonder-gadget recalculates the easiest driving route to get you back to where you wanted to go in the first place. Whether you miss the turn once, twice or any number of times the GPS will recalculate to get you back on the right road.

“Recalculating” is exactly what our Creator does for us when we miss a turn and lose our direction. He simply affords us another go-round for a new beginning… another try at making it right. What a great God we serve. Running back to Him is far better than running away from him.

GPS. God’s Personal Service offered by a Creator who loves us beyond measure and who is willing to take chance-after-chance-after chance so that we would safely arrive at our divine destiny. He’s a BIG GOD who never gives up on us. It’s a spiritual life insurance policy underwritten by the Pearl of Great Price!

The bible that says “I will never leave you or forsake you,” (Heb. 13:5) offers us a promise and encouragement that never expires. It’s the promise of a Covenant God who truly is the God of the second chance

I was observing a NASCAR truck race. One truck crashed then a few more, then more at different areas of the track. It was as though the drivers couldn't help it, they seemed to have no control over the trucks. The drivers were trying to jump out of the trucks as they crashed. They were being run over. There was carnage everywhere.

Interpretation.
Dreamer, your dream is a revelation of what is coming for the small business community. The dream indicates that those who have been in control of their businesses will loose that control. There will be great devastation that will cause great harm and deep feelings of failure. They will no longer be able to move ahead. However, it does show their efforts to bail out but the loss of control may be overpowering.

I recently had dream experiences that would be classified as weird and crazy. These were dreams that actually took me off the straight and narrow path of my usual divinely inspired messages from God. Although we all are occasionally warned or alerted to something very unusual or perhaps even scary during the nighttime hours , in searching out the interpretations of these rare and strange dreams we ultimately discover the hidden message within the symbolic communiqué... we get the picture. What I am about to share with you is for me, "a first."

During a recent surgical procedure, I received anesthesia. That evening I fell in-and-out of a deep, dark sleep and in-and-out of one dream after another. They were emotionally draining, confusing, strange and unnatural emotional episodes. An unpleasant and troublesome night turned out to be an unforgettable confirmation and teaching that drug induced dreams aren't messages from God but are part of the natural process of the brain flushing out chemical influences.

Thank God the Creator has a loving purpose in guiding and directing us in the nighttime hours. When I finally did wake up the following morning it was to the sweet fragrance and presence of the Holy Spirit. That was most reassuring. It was yet another step on my spiritual journey concerning dreams.

The Five Senses

Most of us were born with five senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. But then again some have added other senses such as horse sense, common sense, innocence, non-sense sense of humor and good sense. I do suspect, to a degree, some of these do play a part in our everyday lives. However, the original five God-given senses are the subject of this article.

Senses are faculties for receiving impressions or sensations, an awareness or perception that comes through the five organs of the body. These senses can be aroused for any number of reasons. These senses respond with an intense interest to all sorts of stimuli. There are some of us who are more sensitive to particular stimuli than others. For example a hearing challenged person will be more responsive to seeing than a person with sight. A sightless person will be more tuned in to or responsive to sound than a hearing person. There is also what some term “the sixth sense.” This of course is intuition or intuitive power. Concentrating on and developing any one of our senses will make them stronger and more receptive and discerning.

Being a seer I am always interested in learning more about the subject of revelation in all its forms. Most recently I heard a teaching about the five senses. One area touched upon the fact that we actually have three sets of five senses. In order to comprehend the idea of three sets of senses it is important to first of all recognize that we are created as triune beings, body, soul and spirit. The body has five physical senses. These give us the awareness to interact with everything around us. These are the feelings we depend on in the process of our daily lives.

The five soul senses relate to our memories and how our senses respond or react to experiences and/or cultural environment of the past. This set of senses is about personal situations and how these memories have played a part in affecting us…how one person’s response to the taste of a particular kind of food may be different than another. For example my response to a cultural food such as “pirogi” is pleasant and brings back good memories of my childhood and family. Someone from a different part of the country may have the same good memory concerning “chicken gumbo” than I would. The same can be said for individual differences in response to the smell of flowers. One person’s soul sense may bring up the memory of the death of a loved one whereas another may have good thoughts of the fragrance of flowers. Another personal example is the memory of Vicks vapor rub. This brings to mind the loving touch of a mother comforting me. Another, the aroma of pine trees always takes me back to my first remembrances of Christmas.

The spiritual senses are last mainly because I believe these are more important than our natural senses because they are the five senses that help us form a relationship with God and take part in the supernatural realm. This relationship is what helps us develop the ability to use the gift of discerning of spirits in order to know the difference between what is divinely inspired or if what we’re seeing, hearing, touching, smelling or tasting is from a negative source.

I lean strongly toward this teaching mainly because no matter what limitations we have concerning the physical senses we are completely able to invite and activate our spiritual senses and experience the spiritual realm. The ultimate purpose being to increase our relationship, communication and understanding of the loving God we choose to serve. God communicates through all five senses whereas in the natural realm of sight and sound are most commonly used to communicate. We already have spiritual senses. We need to ask God to open the eyes of our hearts and ears that we might see and hear him more clearly and accurately. Lord increase and develop our sense of touch, smell and taste.

Burned Biscuits

When I was a kid, my Mom liked to make breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that evening so long ago, my Mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed!

Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my Mom and ask me how my day was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember watching him smear butter and jelly on that ugly burned biscuit. He ate every bite of that thing... never made a face nor uttered a word about it. When I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my Mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he said: "Honey, I love burned biscuits every now and then."

Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your Momma put in a hard day at work today and she's real tired. And besides - a little burned biscuit never hurt anyone!"

As I've grown older, I've thought about that many times. Life is full of imperfect things and imperfect people. I'm not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like everyone else. But what I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each others faults, and choosing to celebrate each others differences, is one of the most important keys to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

And that's my prayer for you today... that you will learn to take the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of your life and lay them at the feet of God. Because in the end, He's the only One who will be able to give you a relationship where a burnt biscuit isn't a deal-breaker. We could extend this to any relationship. In fact, understanding is the base of any relationship, be it a husband-wife or parent-child or friendship!

"Don't put the key to your happiness in someone elses pocket - keep it in your own." So, please pass me a biscuit, and yes, the burned one will do just fine!

Seer: "Brightly Colored Jewels

Seer is a person with a God-given ability to see divinely inspired pictures. In ancient writings, God used dreams and visions to communicate with men, women and children. Since he is no respecter of persons, He chooses who will be blessed with this gift. This gift or abilities he bestows are for His purposes.

At times what we see will be to help someone. At other times he allows one to see the extravagant beauty of his love for us. A vision is but a fragment taste of who God is and helps us to understand his ways. As we have been taught, dreams are usually symbolic. The Creator uses parabolic messages to communicate with us whereas visions are literal. However, there are symbols in visions that usually require interpretation. The following is a vision given to a 12-year old student of mine. Her name is Arielle. She has been experiencing the supernatural from a very young age.

“I saw bright colored jewels scattered around on a colonial-like table. The jewels were in shapes of hearts and teardrops. In the middle of it all I saw a dark-colored jewel in the shape of a cross. All of the jewels were outlined in gold. A window was shedding light all over the table, but the cross was shining the brightest. Even though I couldn’t see the window, I knew it was a window. Then everything started fading into the background, but the cross shone.”

This interpretation is an awesome vision that illustrates the never-ending love God has for you and the wonderful spiritual gifts and treasures that are yours. The glory and light of God is prominently displayed and shows that you are also being given the gift of spiritual insight. The most outstanding part of this vision is the focus being on the cross and what Jesus has done for you. This will never fade away. It will always be there.

This vision was meant to encourage you and to assure you of God’s love and the wonderful gifts you have been given. I am quite sure it will be a blessing to many.

Children and the Supernatural

I want to spend some time of explanation and encouragement concerning the abilities of children and the importance of developing an open and free attitude about this subject in their lives.

In biblical writings we read that our Creator gives spiritual gifts and abilities to mankind. We understand this is not limited to one gender but rather is for both male and female, children included. God’s presence and enlightenment is poured out on all no matter what gender or age.

As a child did you ever have a supernatural experience, dream or vision, and felt there was no one you could share it with or were told it’s just your imagination. That ill-time response could have limited or placed a roadblock in developing a creative spiritual gift in your life. Think about it. We need to seriously change our attitude concerning what children hear or see or experience in dreams and visions.

It’s vitally important to encourage our children by not minimizing or disregarding their spiritual experiences. To a child a dream or vision experience is important. We must train the child by listening to them and talking about what they feel and what they sense. One simple and necessary way to teach is to have them first write down the experience. Whether it’s in the form of a dream, something they see, or something they hear, then discuss the experience. If the child is too young to write, you, as a parent, could do it for them. This will impress on them the importance of what they’ve experienced. They will begin to learn and realize even at a young age they have a spec vial aboility from God. As a parent the development of this gift in your child should become a priority. The result of your affirmation will begin to instill in the child’s mind a healthy respect for spiritual sifts. Their desire for more will grow.

Some fun ways to help develop the important skill of distinguishing God’s voice from their own thoughts is for you to choose a number from one to ten. Then ask the child to ask the Holy Spirit for the answer. You can do the same things with colors, fruits, vegetables animals or kids names. Older children may have fun learning to hear God by watching game shows and prompting them to ask the Holy Spirit for the answer before the answer is given.

I would encourage you to seek input and enlightenment from a spiritual community that follows the ancient Hebraic methods of instruction, skill and interpretation. As parents we sometimes make the mistake of ignoring what we think is the child’s imagination. A simple prayer asking God to sanctify their imagination is truly beneficial a d will help you to see the imagination as a natural got from a loving God.

Love Is !

Love is unique. Love will not hinder you. It will not take the light from your day. It will allow liberty and freedom to fulfill the purpose God has for you and in turn you will pass this love on to others. Love is not just a word; it is sacrificial giving and action. It is deliberate and purposeful, not just emotional. Genuine love is caring for others. It is holding one in high esteem, respect and honor. Humanly speaking it can be difficult to achieve this selfless love, it nevertheless is a worthy goal.

Love is an activity and a behavior not just an inner feeling or motivation. Love is the foundation of Christ-like integrity and character. As we seek to grow in this kind of love let us not forget that we must first love ourselves as a child of the most high God. If we can begin to see ourselves as The Creator sees us, it will be so much easier to see others in that same light.

A fine example of this love is written in 1Corinthians 13:4-7. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres."

It can be a challenge to filter opinions and judgments in any situation through the eyes of grace and love. It has been said that we see dimly as though we were looking through a cloudy glass window. There are many personal situations that have played a part in forming habit structures that color our responses to life giving us a hazy view of what true love is all about.

Are you willing to take the challenge that will change how you respond to family, neighbors, and friends and to co-workers? Taking that small moment of silence before you react will make a difference….think twice before you speak out, or judge anyone in any given situation. It will surely make a difference in your life, a change that will be noticed by those you come in contact with.

Keep a journal and record circumstances and how you responded. It will take time and of course you will not reach perfection but the change will become obvious to you and others. You will be blessed. Follow the way of true love and you will move closer to your divine destiny.

Cookie Confirmation

It’s been a long-standing tradition in our family to Christmas shop and later to have dinner with our grandchildren. This continues to be one of the ways we have taught them over the years about the true meaning of Christmas, which is giving. Most of our grandchildren are adults; nevertheless we continue to be blessed by them all and at the same time privileged to bless them. Since the Chinese buffet is Stephen’s favorite dinner-out this was the restaurant chosen for this year's gathering. It was a most enjoyable time spent talking and sharing. I watched and cherished this special time as the “kids” laughed and bantered back-and-forth while I, a slow eater, finished my dinner. We somehow squeezed-in discussing plans for a family vacation at the beach next year.

In the midst of our dinner the subject of dreams was mentioned. Quickly our granddaughter shared a dream she experienced not too long ago. It sounded very important to me and so she agreed to write it down so that I could seriously look into the message in more detail.

I am sure if you've ever been to a Chinese restaurant you have experienced during desert your waitress brings you the bill accompanied with several “fortune cookies.” That was the case as we all were finishing our dinner. Stephen opened one cookie and read aloud “A man’s dreams are an index to his greatness.” That caught our attention. I broke open another cookie and read “A dream will always triumph over reality once it is given a chance.”

I don’t suggest being superstitious yet I can marvel at what a wonderful sense of humor God has as He will use any method or circumstance to let us know he’s around and to confirm what we’re learning. He will use an event, happening, incident, occasion or occurrence to speak to us including dreams…messages in the night…..and even the oft-maligned fortune cookie.

We left the restaurant with hugs and kisses and a renewed awareness that He speaks to us no matter what.

A Prophetic Dream

This is a prophetic dream message I received on
January 2, 2011

"A STORM IS COMING"  

The voice I heard in this dream was clear, commanding and strong.

This is the interpretation of the message.

Situations and issues in America are going to get very serious. There will be eruptions and strong disruptive disturbances coming our way. One area of severe discontent and anger are issues that concern Hispanic people.

However, these circumstances are going to affect everyone's personal life. Many people are being lulled into a false sense of security because of a strong dominating spirit of blindness and deception. During this season of hardship, and even violence, the Light of Christ will be evident to those who are standing strong in His truth.

The purpose of this dream is to warn people, to recognize what is coming. Be alert. Open your eyes, pray and stand strong.

While contemplating and seeking revelation into this dream the Lord reminded me of a vision He had given me some years ago. It was a picture of the United States, from north to south and east to west.

I saw pockets of flames of fire, many, covering the entire country. There were flames of fire every where. The Lord said a time would come when the anointing and power of His Spirit would be ignited in small areas and churches throughout the land. He said; "I will use many unknown, faceless people with integrity and character to fulfill my desires."

* This is a vision that I saw in the Spirit following the prophetic dream..

"A STORM IS COMING."

TORNADO

In the vision I was shown a picture of a very large tornado much larger than what we have already witnessed. It was shaped like a spiral.. a very large funnel cloud..a caramel color vapor with some stripes of black. The power with in this funnel cloud was overwhelmingly powerful. As it hovered over the room I was in, the Lord said this is a symbol of what is going to strike America.

The objective of the vision was to alert us to the need to be prepared spiritually and naturally. Walk closely with me and to do the best you can, to be ready practically and to face the reality of what is at hand. He said your will be safe if you respond to these warnings in obedience and faith in my never ending love.

I believe the purpose of any prophetic dream or vision of this type is a call to prayer.

Classroom In The Sky

One of the many wonders of the changing seasons is looking sky-ward to see and hear a flock of Canada geese migrating south to their winter nesting grounds. I’m always fascinated at their discipline of a “V” formation flight coupled with their constant “honking.” It’s an aerial spectacle. But why do they do what they do? The answer isn’t all that complicated. The lead bird breaks up a wall of air that creates less resistance for the birds behind. The trailing birds therefore use less energy on their long journeys. When the lead bird becomes tired it simply drops back and another bird moves into the leadership position. The new leader takes on the job of breaking up the wind to continue the flight. But wait. There’s more.

In flight you will always here a symphony of “honking.” It’s as if honking is an integral part of this spectacle of nature. And it really is. So I ask the question “why do the geese constantly “honk?. There are several reasons for this.

First they honk for encouragement. The leader honks the loudest keeping stragglers in line. Not an easy job when a flock of hundreds at times fill the autumn skies. Conversely the birds behind the leader also honk sending an audible message to the leader to keep on keeping on. To watch this picture unfold is to marvel at one of the Creators gifts to mankind.

So what lessons are we to glean from the flight of the Canada geese? There are a few.

In a group they encourage each other. Flying in “V” formation affords the group the fact they can go further, faster and acknowledge the leader and pay him the honor of leading them. The younger birds act as protectors for the older birds. Most important is that they have one goal. Their roadmap is followed without and deviation. They fly in an exact migratory pattern. The same aerial highway is followed every time.

The questions then remain: “what can we each learn from the flight of the honking geese and how can we apply these lessons to our lives?

1—Once airborne, their pattern is set. A commitment that never waivers.

2--They have purpose. Without purpose they would flounder.

3--They have an unchangeable road map. They simply do not vacillate.

4--They each contribute in one way or another to reach their destination. Everyone has an assignment.

5--They offer encouragement to each other regardless of buffeting winds. It’s team work that enables them to travel further and faster with beneficial results.

If we seriously reflect on the flight of honking geese the lesson applications are quite significant. Any personal or corporate endeavor must be supported by important qualities if success is to be realized. It must have commitment, purpose, an unchangeable attitude, contribution, encouragement and team work.

We certainly can learn much by looking skyward to view one of the Creator’s gifts, a gift that was hand painted for us on a canvas of unchangeable and never-ending love.

I Need it Now

“I Need it Now”

There’s a television ad that advances the slogan “It’s my money and I need it now!” It’s a company that deals with structured annuity settlements. People are seen yelling from their windows about their money, needing it now. I couldn’t help but apply the same shouting premise to a spiritual position. I think we’ve had experiences wanting to walk in spiritual maturity… and wanting it now. But spiritual maturity doesn’t come easy or quickly. It takes time. Proverbs 20:21 says “An inheritance gained hastily at the beginning will not be blessed in the end.”

Recently I came across part of an article that I find applicable to spiritual growth and maturity. It’s from the pages of world war two. “During world war two, German engineers constructed bunkers that were listed as impenetrable against the enemy's artillery shells. They did this by slowing down the curing rate after it was poured. They allowed the concrete to become firm. As soon as they could move it without it breaking they would lower it onto the ocean floor letting it sit for several months. The concrete would slowly cure. The longer it cured the stronger it became. It became impenetrable.” When I read the article I concluded this principle can be applied in the spiritual realm bolstered by the scripture that says “Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.” Prov. 14:29

The slower God works on us and with us the stronger we become not only in our personal relationship with him but also in our spiritual gifting. Many who have been heralded and rocketed to overnight fame found their weak mortar crumbling simply because they didn’t take the time to be tempered.

So, what does it take to advance into spiritual maturity? It’s an ongoing process. First you must recognize your position in relationship to God. It’s all about him, not you. It’s getting to know his ways. He’s the one who has the program. He’s the Creator, teacher and the gift-giver. Actually his classroom instruction is never ending so in essence you never graduate because you’re always learning and moving to higher levels of maturity. You must display humility, responsibility and reliability. For anyone to go it alone without walking in any of these personal characteristics is akin to walking into a bog of quicksand.

Spiritual maturity comes with a hefty personal price tag. It means taking risks that often times prove disappointing and discouraging because what was expected didn’t occur. It means keeping on keeping on. It means falling down and getting up to try again to get it right. It means not quitting. Quitting is easy. Spiritual maturity means walking into a situation knowing exactly who you are in Christ and knowing what you need to do. Be it prayer, advice, or counsel. Walking in spiritual maturity isn’t a 9 to 5, 40-hours a week, home on weekend’s job. Those who walk the walk are open for business 24 hours a day. It’s a case of “we never close.”

Spiritual maturity then is that intangible possession that acts as currency in the bank of heaven. It always gains interest. It never loses.

The Story Of Two Men

This is a story of two men from ancient times. The story and teaching is timeless and remains relevant in these modern times. Each of the men believed in God and were anointed and called by God for special purposes. Both were gifted with divine power and strength. Both were young, strong, virile and intelligent. They each walked a spiritual path that was worthy of God and righteous in the Creator’s eye. However, something in their lives changed along the way.

One stood strong against the wiles of the enemy, never denying his God. He didn’t yield to the ways of the world and as a result received great favor from both man and God. In his dealings with the culture of everyday life, and ways of the world, be became well known for his righteousness, his faith, power, spiritual insight and knowledge of the ways of God. No matter what sacrifices he had to make he never gave up his faith or beliefs. He bowed to no other god but remained faithful to the teachings of the Lord God Jehovah. Today he is well known for his physical, intellectual and spiritual giftedness and power. His spiritual walk is an example to all mankind.

The second man walked a holy and pure life but in time temptations and lust of the flesh proved to be his undoing. He succumbed to those weaknesses that is within all of us…pride and self-centeredness that takes our mind and attention off Jesus and places it on “self.” He faltered to the point of losing his God-given power and anointing as he strayed from the perfect will of God …the path which was chosen for him from the beginning. He didn’t stand strong in righteousness, integrity or power but rather fell into the pit of darkness suffering the reality that he no longer walked with God. He lost not only his physical sight but also his spiritual sight of divine revelation given to him by his Creator.

Floundering and suffering, he at long last cried out to God and by the grace and mercy that only comes from the Lord our God, was given a second chance to save his soul. But in the process he lost the long and productive life he could have had.

The life histories and identities of the two men are found written in the books of Daniel and Judges in the Old Testament…. they are Daniel and Samson. These stories are stories that focus on integrity, character and loyalty.

Historically, we know in reading scripture references that God rewards those who diligently seek after him. He is always faithful to those who walk in integrity, in truth and character. Our lives should always be focused on God’s ways. This will help our spirit to rule over our soul in reaching the purpose and divine destiny God has planned for us from the beginning of time as we know it.

Angels: A Biblical Perspective

There are different kinds of heavenly created beings that may appear in different forms. To be sure they are not those diaper-clad, chubby little babies, cradling bows-and-arrows as symbols of love. There are Hosts, Angels, Seraphim, and Cherubim and many other supernatural beings such as recorded in the book of Ezekiel: 1:4-9 “I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north—an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light. The center of the fire looked like glowing metal, and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures. In appearance their form was that of a man, but each of them had four faces and four wings. Their legs were straight; their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze. Under their wings on their four sides they had the hands of a man. All four of them had faces and wings, and their wings touched one another. Each one went straight ahead; they did not turn as they moved.”

Since the Lord does not change and is the same yesterday, today and forever, the supernatural manifestations are as authentic for today as they were in times past. There has never been a cut-off time line. They are part of the past spiritual life, the present spiritual life, and the future spiritual life. God desires for us to experience this extraordinary part of His glorious creation.

Communication from the throne of God concerning angelic beings should be commonplace in our lives today. As we learn to surrender our insecurities and control of things, God will release more divinely inspired angelic experiences into our daily lives. It will be a natural occurrence.

Evangelist Billy Graham, in his book titled “God’s Secret Agents,” wrote: “Believers, look up, take courage. The angels are nearer than you think.”

   In this dream I was very much aware that I was dreaming. I was driving my car along a heavily traveled highway. It actually was the exact route I travel to work everyday. It was a busy time of day, many cars and trucks. Suddenly, a pickup truck swerved across the dividing line over to my side of the road. It was headed directly toward me. With instant reaction I was able to swerve my car to the side of the road avoiding a head-on collision. In that split second the heavy traffic was gone. Although I was shaken, I was safe.
  The next day I was late leaving for work and came upon an accident. A pickup truck had veered off the side of the road causing a lot of congestion. I stopped and found out that no one was injured but I couldn’t help but notice the truck was the exact same truck that was in my dream the night before. The Lord had protected me from what could have been a serious accident all because I had the ability to change something in a dream.
   This was a lucid dream.
   A lucid dream is a dream in which the dreamer is aware that they are dreaming. The basic definition of the term is the same whether it is in the scientific, physiological or spiritual realm.
  The term lucid dreaming was formulated or conceived by Dutch psychiatrist and writer Frederik van Eeden (1860-1932). In the physiological realm the term is readily accepted and the individual is taught that they have ultimate control to the point of consciously putting themselves into a dream state. Eastern mysticism teaches the mind and the soul have these powers that are also connected to astral travel.

In the spiritual realm of dream interpretation it is taught that God is in control and has gifted us with this wonderful realm of dreaming. It is part and parcel of how and why He communicates with us. Lucid dreaming is one area in which we are able to use the spiritual authority we have been given. When used with the intention God intended, it can draw us closer to the our spiritual destiny. God uses this method of dreaming to direct and assist us in using the spiritual authority we have been given. Lucid dreaming is just one way which the Creator uses to help us avoid experiences that could otherwise be dangerous or to say the least negative.

One of the main signs that one is dreaming lucidly is becoming aware during a dream that you are dreaming. In my personal experience lucid dreaming began after I had been dreaming for a while. It produced spiritual growth, maturity and a greater spiritual awareness. Now the largest percentage of my dreams are lucid, I am very much aware that I am dreaming sometimes accompanied with an added bonus, being given the interpretation while still in the dream state.
Keep in mind the ability to change the outcome of a dream could possibly prevent something negative in the natural.
Lucid dreams then are graphic and explicit. The dreamer almost always can describe in full detail circumstances, those involved, objects and locations. It is dreaming in another spiritual dimension.

Oh Yes! God has a purpose in each and every dream…because dreams matter.

In The Beginning

This is a blog in progress. My dream is to grow it into an interactive community that can learn and share together. There will be a variety of subjects discussed with “dreams” being the main focus. We all can grow if you will let me know what you think of the articles and make comments on how they have helped you come closer to the one who created you. Growing in integrity and character is something we all should desire.
